1.) Whitaker Park, Lewis County
Boasting huge but hidden waterfalls, this park provides shady spots for camping and parking for day hiking along the falls. More info here
2.) Black Pond, Oswego County
Miles of sandy beach and state protected wetlands tucked behind the dunes make this stop a must during the hot summer months. More info here
3.) Robert G. Wehle State Park, Jefferson County
This unique State Park is a dog’s dream. Man’s best friend can frolic along miles of lakefront hiking trails and picnic areas on the beautiful shores of Lake Ontario. Wehle also offers camping, cabins and a visitor center designed to commemorate the park founder’s love of canines. More info here
4.) Sixberry Lake, Jefferson County
This New York State conservation area offers a quiet and secluded place to swim, canoe, kayak and fish. More info here
5.) Eatonville Falls, Lewis County
This shady and scenic area in the Adirondack Park provides a cool place to swim, float and slide down gentle rapids. Grab a picnic basket and a raft and bring your family this natural waterslide. More info here
